My friend, Tracy got a new iPod touch for her birthday.  She showed me how she was using her husband's old cell phone case to carry it.  I asked her if I could crochet her a cozy for it!  It's her birthday, after all!

I used some deep blue chenille yarn that I found stashed at the Goodwill & a button that my friend Monica had sent me in a crafty care package!  I made the strap long enough so she could wear it around her wrist!

Today, I was featured in a really COOL blog!  It's purple week over at the Cool 2 Craft blog!

http://cool2craft.wordpress.com/

My purple flower pot bookmark was one of the features!  It's a WAY exciting thing for me!!

Now, I wish I had blocked this before posting it to make it all smooth... But, hindsight.  I just got too excited to post it!

My other love is making jewelry.  My favorite color is pink & I'm REALLY having a hard time breaking from JUST making pink stuff! LOL  It's hard, but I can DO it!

I started crocheting bookmarks!  I don't have the very small doily type hooks, so I improvise.  I am also using embroidery floss.  LOL!!  Nothing can keep this crafty girl down!

I can't even begin to describe the feeling of today.  Lately, I have been inspired by two people to start adding my creations to my Etsy site!  I still don't know how to do links on this blog, so bear with me!
Picture
My Sis*Star, Kelly!  She is such a sweet, sweet, inspiring person!  I can't believe I was lucky enough to get to know her!   We met through a Facebook group called Craft it Forward & I swear, it's like friendship at first sight! :)

My qulling buddy, Monica!  She makes me laugh to the point where I almost pee myself!  We also met through Craft it Forward on Facebook.  She does these amazing tutorials on her website/blog & another truly inspirational woman!

So, after prodding from them, I decided to reactivate my Etsy shop & try to sell some of my creations.  I spent probably two hours trying to make up descriptions, pricing, etc. for my product.  I also had decided to make a Facebook page just for my crafts (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/craftyscreations) and then also a fan page: (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Craftys-Creations/110458282329059)

I swear, within an hour of adding my jewelry creations to Etsy & also my Facebook pages, I sold 3 items with two special requests.  My first customers happened to be one of my very best friends from high school of course & another person I went to high school with. But, STILL.....  It just made my day!  Ever since, I have not been able to stop making stuff!  Jewelry, crochet items, etc.  It's just been a whirlwind of creativity!  I would like to thank Monica & Kelly for their ongoing inspiration & support!  I truly LOVE you guys (ladies)!!

My previous co-workers (on & off for the past 12 years) & good friends have been keeping me busy by asking me to embroider the "Chuy's" name on their shirts they bring me from home.  The girls tend to not like wearing the standard Chuy's T-shirts & are allowed to embellish their own shirts.  Which, leaves me.  It started off with me going back to work at my old store in September & decided I didn't want to buy new Chuy's shirts, so I went & scoured clearance racks for V-neck shirts to embellish.  This was one of my first creations.

It started as a plain green shirt, but I "somehow" got grease on it (that wouldn't come out!!) the FIRST time I wore it!!  So, I decided to try something I saw on TV.  I made a foam stencil of a butterfly & a flower, sprayed a mixture of bleach & water over the stencils.  My homemade "bleach tie dye".  After washing, I noticed the grease was STILL noticable.  So, I decided to take colored Sharpie pens & draw swirls over the spot!

So, after wearing my own creations at work, the crafty fire has spread!  I have embroidered shirts for 3 other employees & just got an order for my 4th!!  $5 a shirt isn't bad! :)

I charged Jenni $7 per shirt because she let me add designs! :)

I even did a few tank tops!

So, even though I'm officially off work, preparing for Justin to come, I'm still working.  But, it's the kind of work I LOVE to do!!

Happy Crafting!

I've been trying to create a hat for Justin to wear.  I've never made a hat before,  so I went on a search for the perfect "beanie" type hat pattern.  Well, my first 3 tries with this pattern ended up being: A) Too BIG for a "typical 7lb baby" (If Justin's head is that big at 7lbs, LORD help me!)  B)  Too square at the top.  And, I used yarn that I thought would be unisex... Not so much. LOL  This is my first attempt at Justin's hat!  You'll have to excuse the "model".  My house is chock full of "boys" so no baby dolls here to model! LOL  I have no use for this, so I will be selling it... probably on Etsy. :)

Attempt #2

Used a blue yarn I found at the 99cent store.  Much better!  But, still too square on top!  Looks like a fisherman's hat! I ended up giving it to a teacher at Z's school who is due with a boy in September. :)

Attempt #3

Much better, used a yellow (Jonquil) yarn that actually matches a bib I knit for Justin.  Seems whenever I actually FOLLOW a pattern, things get wonky.  So, I decided to "loosly" follow a pattern. ;)

Here is the bib to match that I previously knit (one of my first knitting projects, I tend to crochet better than knit) with a crocheted edge. :)

I'm working on new stitches from "Crochet blocks in a box".

I'm trying the "Lacy Stripes" pattern block, which calls for a bobble stitch. Unfortunately, I've never made a bobble before. So, after reading the card (or so I thought) & the book that came with the cards, I turned to the internet for instruction. Which I found on www.craftstylish.com & had NO problem learning it from the instructions given.

Unfortunately, my first attempt at the block just didn't look right, so I took it out & decided to try again in the morning.

This morning, I sit down with my hook, yarn & the pattern card. I look at the back, instructions for the block & what do I find? The stinking instructions to make a bobble! See what happens when I look "everywhere" for something? I find it the next day, right in front of me!

How could I have missed this?

Picture
Geesh!

Anyways, this is what the front of the card looks like. I'm hoping to make Justin a blanket by making numerous blocks in different colors!

Welcome to Crafty's Creations!  I enjoy anything Crafty.  I've been in a crafty slump lately, but with the help of my new crafty Facebook friends, I'm on a roll.  Right now, I'm working on things for our soon to be 2nd son, Justin Ari.  I am due July 20, 2010.  Hang on & enjoy the ride that is my craftiness!
